Pacify Scholarships

Building the future workforce of culturally sensitive care experts

In the U.S., the number of board-certified lactation consultants of color does not reflect the diversity of the perinatal population. Through our IBCLC Diversity in Lactation Consulting Scholarship Program, we aim to make it easier for candidates who have been historically underrepresented in the field to join the profession.

We are equally committed to expanding access to doula care. Our Doula Scholarship Program focuses on increasing the availability of certified birth and postpartum doulas in communities where access might be limited.

How it works

Pacify partners with health plans and public health organizations to build scholarship programs:

IBCLC Diversity in Lactation Consulting Scholarship Program

  • Reach aspiring IBCLCs of color within the communities they serve
  • Award scholarships to select applicants
  • Support applicants on their journey to become infant feeding experts.

Pacify Doula Scholarship Program

  • Provide opportunities for aspiring doulas and/or practicing doulas seeking certification
  • Award scholarships to candidates committed to serving their communities
  • Support the growth of birthworkers in areas with limited doula access

    Continued support

    Pacify Lactation Mentorship Program

Financial support is an important step, but we recognize that becoming an IBCLC requires comprehensive support. That’s why we’ve created a six-month mentorship program where current Pacify Lactation Consultants guide scholarship recipients through their journey. With support from Pacify’s Clinical Department, mentors provide guidance on:

    • Navigating IBCLC pathways
    • Choosing education programs
    • Reviewing clinical cases
    • Exam preparation
    • Professional development and interviewing skills

    Pacify Doula Mentorship Program

This new program will aim to connect doula scholarship recipients with experienced doulas who provide six months of:

    • Guidance through certification requirements
    • Support on client interaction and communication
    • Navigating relationships with medical Staff
    • Self-care and preventing burnout for doulas
    • Cultural sensitivity and respect in birth work
    • Building confidence in your role as a new doula

Pacify is committed to not only removing financial barriers, but also to contributing to the success of perinatal providers. By supporting lactation consultants and doulas, we’re working to ensure more families have access to the care they need.
