Telehealth App Pacify Announces Expansion of its Annual Diversity in Lactation Scholarship Program

Scholarships

Scholarships will cover up to $1,000 of funds each for fourteen aspiring International Board Certified Lactation Consultants

WASHINGTON, D.C. – September 17, 2020 – Pacify Health, the country's leading lactation and pediatric telehealth app for moms, announced today the expansion of its annual Diversity in Lactation scholarship program. The expanded scholarship will provide $14,000 in financial assistance to aspiring International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) from racial and ethnic groups that are traditionally underrepresented in the professional lactation field. Originally two scholarships per year, Pacify and its parent company Advantia Health will now award fourteen scholarships annually of up to $1,000 each to cover costs associated with becoming an IBCLC, including IBCLC exam fees and preparatory course work.

"Pacify has an important role to play in addressing inequities in the field of lactation," said Melanie Silverman, MS, RD, IBCLC, Chief Clinical Officer of Pacify. "The lactation profession needs to do a better job of preparing and training more IBCLCs from racial and ethnic minority groups that are not well represented in the profession today."
